Lagoonillas is the only town in
Venezuela that has a lagoon inside it's urban center, only in Latin
America with salt water, and the second in the world, placed in the own
heart of our andin mountains. The lagoon has a total superfice
of 705 acres, shows a wavy elongated form, its depth varies from
1 to 4.5 meters. In it you can practice swimming, fishing, oar, canotage
and any other water sport non contaminative.
This lagoon was
declared a natural monument in 1979. Right here can be found a mineral
called Urao, wich is used as an ingredient for the elaboration of
the famous
"CHIMO" being this consumed mostly in the Venezuelan Andes. |
